The fashion industry has been hit really hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this situation, runway shows, and fashion weeks were left in a state of confusion at best and chaos at worst.
Nevertheless, this April Istanbul completed its second successful fashion week during the epidemic, in line of government restrictions and in the meantime developing technology.
Fashion Week Istanbul (FWI), which took place between 13-16 April, presented the collections of almost 30 designers in the second iteration of the digital, timeless and gender-neutral showcase, along with their developing and deep-rooted design talents, as well as scheduled live talks and discussions on the platform for the international audience. With a virtual four-day event featuring famous and upcoming designers, including
Dice Kayek and Zeynep Tosun, this year designers had short films to showcase their collections. Running as a digital event for the second time this year, Fashion Week Istanbul signed a special partnership with the leading global digital showroom Joor, which has a reach to over 200,000 buyers from 144 countries.
Fashion Week Istanbul has its own dedicated space and the collections of all the designers were available to international buyer’s review and orders through this digital platform.
Istanbul, which is the meeting point of the East and the West, was also be the meeting point of the creative worlds during the organization. This successful organization did not only present the local talents but also helped through the creation of a Turkish fashion council. Besides provided a huge develop for building partnerships to drive forward the Turkish fashion industry.
Istanbul proved it is strong place in Fashion World once more.
